SASO IECEE Recognition Certification

The Saudi Organization for Standardization, Metrology and Quality (SASO) grants a certificate of recognition of the international certificate issued according to the IECEE scheme. This certificate is considered an approval of the international IECEE certificate and test report, taking into consideration that the product complies with Saudi requirements. The validity of this certificate is one year.

Conditions of IECEE Certificate Issuance, Validity & Renewal

• SASO IECEE Recognition Certificate is issued after submitting the required documents and the application is reviewed and approved
• After the SASO IECEE Certificate is issued, the product is listed on the Jeem 1 platform database
• The SASO IECEE Certificate is valid for one year and requires annual renewal
• The renewal request must be applied at least 60 days before the certificate expiry date, or the application will be considered new
• If more than one model number of the products are enlisted in the same IECEE CB Test Report and IECEE CB Certificate, they can be certified under the same SASO IECEE Certificate

SASO EER - Energy Efficiency Rating

The Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) has announced Energy Efficiency Labeling Regulations for certain electrical and electronic products. Manufacturers and importers must ensure their products are compliant with the new regulations before accessing the Saudi Arabia market.

SASO EER Certification lasts for a period of one year. For Electric Motors, the rated efficiency and the code of IE-Nominal limits (IE, International Energy-efficiency Class) shall be durably marked on the rating plate, for example "IE2 - 84.0%".

SASO SABER - Saudi Product Safety Programme

As part of the national transformation programs 2020 and 2030 vision of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, SASO has designed the Saudi Product Safety Programme. Starting from January 2019, the SABER Platform was launched to support the Saudi Product Safety Programme for SASO Technical Regulations.

The Saudi Product Safety Programme includes a two-stage certification process: Product Certification and Shipment Certification of Regulated Products exported to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. SASO has approved Certification Bodies (CBs) such as TQS for the various geographical regions to issue the Product CoC and Shipment CoC for Regulated Products.

SABER / SALEEM Platform

The new Saudi certification scheme SALEEM operates via the online platform called SABER. SABER is the portal where importers must register their products and provide all necessary information related to the product and shipment. All product consignments intended to be imported to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia must present the Certificates of Conformity at Saudi Customs for smooth clearance.

Certification Types

• Product CoC (Certificate of Conformity): Certifies that the product meets all applicable Saudi technical regulations and standards
• Shipment CoC: Certifies that a specific shipment of products is compliant for import into Saudi Arabia

Conditions for Change in Certification Scope

• Once the product certificate is issued on the SABER platform, changes are not permitted
• Any change needed in product certification after issuance is considered a new certification request
• New models may be added to existing product certification after successful verification of model relation with the existing certified product
• Product Identity Declaration is needed from the Manufacturer for consideration
